So I have been attending the IN09 (The Interactive Exchange) conference put on by Interactive Ontario for the past two days. Last year the conference was named ICE08, however for some reason (which I cannot disclose, LOL) they changed the name. I like it better now in any event. So, here are some highlights from day 1 of my adventures through the conference:
- The opening session had Itay Talgam, a classical conductor from Israel lead the crowd through a series of videos (of composers of course) while trying to highlight that only from chaos comes innovation.
- The Media Super Panel gave Claude Galipeau (Rogers Media), Stephan Argent (CTV) and Jonathan Lister (Google Canada) an opportunity to discuss the current and future of the Canadian Digital landscape. Best part of the discussion, the frustrations being shared across the panel with the inability to properly measure the Canadian online audience using the current panel based model, especially when it comes to video consumption.
- Apparently the UK knows a thing or two about collaboration that us Canadians can learn from. A group called Open Innovation has successfully brought together many of the UK’s best corporations to jointly develop projects that they believe can be developed into greater than $100 million commercial opportunities, all through a process called Extreme Collaboration.
- Obama Girl. What else can I say. Craigslist put the actress, producer and videographers together (the latter the same day as the shoot). Mass media gave them viral distribution. The rest is history…and YES, she is very attractive.
More from Day 2 to come.
