The social media triple crown

The social media triple crown

So many of us use social media to distinguish ourselves from the rest.  We all do the same things, yet many of us are more successful than others.  In professional sports, the same is true.  In baseball, everyone goes to the plate, uses the same bats and balls, and tries to outdo their competitors.  There are metrics put in place that allow the public to determine who are the most successful.

Hits, runs, runs batted in, batting average, home runs…they all count towards identifying the best of the best.  In baseball, there is even a set of success metrics that has become a benchmark of overall excellence.  It is the “triple crown”.  The baseball triple crown is won by a batter who (at season’s end) leads the league in three major categories — home runs, runs batted in, and batting average.

So what would the triple crown of social networking look like? 1,000 Twitter followers, 500 Facebook friends and 250 LinkedIn connections?  What would your triple crown look like?
